Nvidia Launches Affordable AI Chip for China After U.S. Export Limits
Nvidia is rolling out a cost-effective AI chip tailored for the Chinese market, priced between $6,500 and $8,000. The MOVE follows U.S. export restrictions that barred the sale of its high-end H20 model. Designed on the Blackwell architecture, the new chip forgoes high-bandwidth memory and advanced packaging to meet regulatory constraints.
The company’s market share in China has halved from 95% to 50% amid escalating trade tensions. By opting for GDDR7 memory instead of HBM, Nvidia aims to maintain its foothold in a market increasingly dominated by domestic alternatives like Huawei.
